classes are offered by Breastfeeding Outreach for Greater Washington
We offer a wide range of free and low-cost classes for expectant, new and experienced mothers of newborns to toddlers. Our classes are taught by our IBCLCs or instructors that are highly qualified in their respective fields. Please register through our calendar!
Babies are always welcome to come to class! Our free classes can be crowded due to our no turn away policy; please register in advance. Due to our limited space, we ask that you leave strollers and/or carseats at home and use a baby carrier instead. If payment is a hardship, please call and ask our Program Director for options.
All of the classes described below can be taught privately one-on-one or for a small group by one of our IBCLCs or instructors.
For Professionals/Training Program
Location: The Breastfeeding Center for Greater Washington
1020 19th St NW, Suite 150
Washington, DC 20036
This class was designed with the health care provider in mind. Doulas, nurses, midwives, physicians and other health care professionals are encouraged to attend this 3 hour program. Start with a 1.5-hour class on the basics of breastfeeding, then observe a one-on-one lactation consultation (to be set up at a later time) or attend another one of our classes of their choosing. This class will go over getting a successful start at breastfeeding, breast pumping and milk storage, challenges that nursing moms may face, and how to get families the help that they need. This class is presented by Gina Boling, IBCLC, and Director of Lactation at the Breastfeeding Center for Greater Washington.
