Join us the last Saturday of every month from 10:00am-1:00pm for our Expectant Parents’ Sampler Class!
The Breastfeeding Center for Greater Washington
2141 K Street NW
Washington, DC 20037
This course covers need-to-know information about breastfeeding, breast pumping, baby care and infant sleep.
The basic anatomy and physiology involved in breast milk production and breastfeeding will be explained, along with what to expect during the first days after birth and what to do if things do not go as planned. You will also receive instruction on the different types of breast pumps, as well as breast pump demonstrations.
This class also provides an overview of everything you need to know about caring for your infant. We will cover normal newborn appearances, bathing, diapering, soothing techniques and how to read your baby’s cues. In addition, you will learn about the importance of sleep (for both parents and baby!) and strategies to improve your baby’s daytime and nighttime sleep. Our hope is that with this class we can help dispel myths about sleep and help you and your family get adequate, safe sleep. The instructor is one of our experienced IBCLCs.
