Recognizing the desire or need for support from a mental health professional can take a lot of courage, especially when you are an expectant or new mom and already have a lot of pulls on your time. Our Therapist, Joanna, strives to create a safe therapeutic space and will collaborate with you to put an immediate plan in place so that you. can get and feel better as quickly as possible. Longer term, Joanna can support you in freely exploring and developing an understanding of challenges and strengths and ways to maintain your progress.
In addition to seeing clients at The Breastfeeding Center for Greater Washington, Joanna has a private practice in Chevy Chase, MD and has experience and advanced training in perinatal mood & anxiety disorders, pregnancy loss & infertility.
About Joanna Strait:
A native Washingtonian, Joanna is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LICSW/LCSW-C) in the District of Columbia and Maryland.
Joanna is an experienced clinician offering individual therapy to adults. She strongly believes that treatment modalities must be tailored to each person’s unique needs and she utilizes her training in psychodynamic, cognitive behavioral, somatic/sensory, and attachment theories to inform her work. Joanna’s approach is very collaborative, and she provides a calm and safe space for clients to explore possibilities for growth and increased fulfillment.

Please note that all billing for these appointments are done by the provider and not by The Breastfeeding Center. Appointments are $175 (with a sliding scale available for those in need). Joanna will provide you with an insurance form to send to your insurance company for reimbursement.
