Lactation Consultant

We are hiring experienced outpatient IBCLCs. The skilled clinician must have several years of experience in a variety of lactation circumstances. Experience with different lifestyles and developmental stages preferred. In addition to supporting normal variations in the breastfeeding dyad, the IBCLC must demonstrate the expertise to discern when and which intervention is necessary, including the use of lactation equipment as needed. The clients are highly motivated, generally well educated and very diverse in age and ethnic background. The job is very challenging and rewarding. Hours are flexible and part time. Free training if already certified.

Insurance Biller

The insurance biller position bills insurance companies for all lactation consultations; pursues collection of all claims until payment is made by insurance companies; sends insurance forms to clients whose insurance we are not in-network with; and performs other work associated with the billing process.

Essential Functions

  1. Prepares and submits lactation consultation claims to third-party insurance carriers electronically.
  2. Secures needed medical documentation required or requested by third party insurances.
  3. Follows up with third-party insurance carriers on unpaid claims till claims are paid or only self-pay balance remains.
  4. Processes rejections by either making accounts private and generating a letter of rejection to client or correcting any billing error and resubmitting claims to third-party insurance carriers.
  5. Works with staff to ensure that correct diagnosis/procedures are reported to third party insurance carriers.
  6. Makes accounts private and notify clients when claims have not been paid after time frames in established accounts receivable policy.
  7. Keeps updated on all billing and benefit changes for third-party insurance carriers.
  8. Posts third-party insurance remittance vouchers.
  9. Monitors claims for missing information and authorization/control numbers.
  10. Maintains confidentiality of all information.
  11. Completes work within authorized time to assure compliance with departmental standards.
  12. Keeps updated on all third-party billing requirements and changes for insurance types within the area of responsibility.
  13. Demonstrates knowledge of, and supports mission, vision, value statements, standards, policies and procedures, operating instructions, confidentiality standards, and the code of ethical behavior.
  14. Maintains third-party billing logs.
  15. Performs other duties as required.

This is a part-time position, and hours of work and days are flexible and may be performed offsite.

Required Education and Experience

  1. Successful completion of high school or commercial coursework including math, bookkeeping and business.
  2. Courses in insurance billing, data processing and medical terminology preferred.
  3. One year of prior experience in billing of third-party insurances for facility and professional services required.
  4. Knowledge of third-party billing requirements

Volunteer Coordinator

We are looking for someone who has experience in volunteer management to help the Center build and maintain a group of volunteers. Ideally, our Volunteer Coordinator would be someone who benefitted from the services that we offer and wants to give back to the community.

Responsibilities include (but are not limited to):

– Recruit, train and manage volunteers for programs and services

– Record and track volunteer hours

– Work with staff to coordinate volunteer involvement in different projects and outreach programs

– Support and encourage volunteers to ensure volunteer retention
